The Montreal Boat and Water Sports Show is now officially launched. Visitors will be able to admire an infinite variety of boats of all sizes and, of course, stop by the various booths offering water sports services and accessories. This is one of the most interesting aspects of the Show, as all boat enthusiasts enjoy anything that is related to water sports (products, gadgets, accessories).
The Montreal Boat and Water Sports Show not only gives enthusiasts the opportunity to look for a new boat, but also represents the perfect place to rekindle their passion for water sports, right in the middle of winter. This helps us wait before the return of the boating season! The 2011 edition showcases some exclusive models, and the Nautique 200E model, the first 100% electric ski and wakeboard boat, which is making its world premiere exclusive debut, is not to be missed. This boat, introduced by Correct Craft builder, is fitted with an electric propulsion system designed exclusively by the Quebec firm LTS Marine. This innovation is a real must see!
Of course, the most popular booths are often those that exhibit full-size boats. Admittedly, year after year, the presence of big boats is getting increasingly scarce in boating shows, and the 2011 edition of the Montréal Show is no exception to the rule. Nonetheless, big boat fans will be able to discover Silverton models as well as two Mainship Trawlers. Other full-size boats are provided by Marina Gagnon, recently purchased by Groupe Performance Marine, which proposes two models from the Prestige line from builder Jeanneau. Both models stand out through their European design and great simplicity. The all new Sunsation 36 SSR, the only high-performance model present at the Show, will certainly attract onlookers with its dual and entirely red 525 Mercury Racing engines.
Lastly, Bayliner is returning to the Show after a noticeable hiatus, while Chris Craft, the famous make from the past, is also making a comeback on the market with its high-end models with their traditional design.
Noticeable absences
The 2011 edition also marks the absence of several great builders. Dealers representing the makes Regal, Chaparral, Monterey, Checkmate, Four Winns, Regal, Nordic USA, Meridian, Sea Ray, Rinker and Beneteau sailboats have decided not to show up this year, preferring to opt for a different sale strategy. During our visit which lasted a few hours, several visitors seemed to have noticed the absence of these great makes, and some had come especially to see them. This will disappoint many.
The 2011 edition of the Montreal Boat and Water Sports Show will nonetheless allow boating enthusiasts to have a nice time and admire a wide range of boats.
