The 2012 Toronto International Boat Show – the biggest event of its kind in Canada – has officially opened its doors. This 54th edition of the event is taking place from January 14-22 and is featuring several new products this year. Boat enthusiasts with a preference for larger crafts will be happy to see what Crates Marine has on offer, including its Carver and Marquis models. Visitors will also have the chance to get a first glimpse of Performance Marine’s Jeanneau and Prestige models, which are known for their typically European layout design.
Sailers and sport fisherman are also well served with an assortment of models and engines on display. Hats off to Mercury for letting the public get up close and personal with their wide range of engines, sterndrives and accessories. You can even see Mercury Racing’s most powerful engine, the 1350-hp twin-turbo V8 that was initially unveiled at the 2010 Miami Boat Show.
A variety of activities
The Toronto Boat Show isn’t just a showroom for new boats. In fact, there are plenty of activities on the agenda – especially when you go into the equipment and accessories section. We all know it’s true: when you own a boat, you’re always on the lookout for miracle products or the latest technological innovation. There are also several family-oriented activities to prep you for boating season. Most notably, there’s the indoor lake (built in an indoor arena) where visitors can watch demonstrations or even try their hand at kayaking.
In short, the Toronto Boat show is much more than just an exhibition. You’ll find yourself spending as much time with all the “toys” available on site than with the boats!
