Last winter, at the Miami International Boat Show, Mercury Racing unveiled its 1350-hp engine, the boat builder’s latest high-performance engine. Two preproduction units were on display at the Cigarette Racing booth, fitted on the Cigarette Mercedes-Benz AMG 46 Rider XP, a unique edition inspired by Mercedes-Benz’s latest sports car creation: the SLS AMG
But recently, Mercury Racing announced on its blog the production and shipment of the very first production twin 1350-hp engines, power plants that will eventually replace both preproduction units fitted on the Cigarette SLS AMG.
The second twin engines, currently being produced, will be shipped to MTI, a builder renowned for its high-performance catamaran.
Developing 1350 horsepower, this new 9.0 L engine uses two turbochargers entirely developed by Mercury Racing, which usually uses GM cylinder blocks.
